Sunflower Matters

I bought some sunflowers last week with the idea of painting them. Finally threw caution to the wind today and threw some watercolour paint about in a haphazard kind of way - not sure of the result. It started out well but I lost it somewhat when it got to the petals because I really didn't know how I could get the effect that I wanted. Practice, practice, practice!

I don't know what effect you were after, but I think they are fabulous! I have tried to paint sunflowers several times but they were awful. Yours are great!

Absolutely stunning, Anita! This is watercolor at it's best, IMO. Loose, juicy and glowing.

I agree, this is fabulous Anita. Nice use of watercolour pencils in there too. Watercolour takes a lifetime to master. Just keep at it, the rewards far outweigh the frustration :)

Practice my foot! This is gorgeous, Anita and I see I'm not the first to think so. Sunflower paintings are such a cleche where I am it takes a lot for a picture to excite me. Brava!

Judy - I'm not sure I really knew either but it wasn't anything quite as detailed as this turned out to be.

Billie - thank you! I'm watching your work closely!

Michael - Do I have to wait a lifetime for the rewards??? Thank yoU!

Robyn - it definitely needs more practice. I know what you mean about sunflowers.

Pat - thank you!
